Tackling Crime In the Red Zone Initiative

Judge Lori Chambers Gray, in partnership with the NFL Alumni Houston Chapter, leads Tackling Crime in the Red Zone. This dynamic community initiative teaches youth how to win by introducing them to elite athletes and entrepreneurs and coaching them through the development of a winning life game plan. Crime prevention and crime reduction are the goals of this historic initiative.

By bringing together law enforcement agencies, elected officials, business leaders, and educators, this program fosters a unified approach to public safety, combining data-driven crime mapping and community-oriented policing. Reducing violence through collaboration with the community and corporate mentorship.

Through a series of interactive forums and workshops, NFL players and community leaders share real-life experiences, both on and off the field, with youth and community members. Additionally, at every forum, mental health resources and support, as well as mentors and community representatives, are on-site to discuss job and educational opportunities, as well as mental well-being.

Youth engagement lies at the heart of the effort: at-risk teens participate in mentorship programs, life-skills training, and athletic coaching that reinforce accountability and empower them to become positive community leaders.

Ongoing data tracking and transparent impact reports ensure that strategies evolve with measurable reductions in crime and improvements in community well-being.

Tackling Crime in the Red Zone is more than an intervention—it’s a commitment to long-term neighborhood resilience and opportunity. Residents can join this collaborative movement by attending community forums, volunteering as mentors, sponsoring local programs, or subscribing to quarterly updates on progress and events.

Together, Judge Gray and the NFL Alumni Houston Chapter invite all Houstonians to turn the tide on crime and build safer, stronger communities.
