WHERE I COME FROM
Lori Chambers Gray is a native Houstonian and is the presiding judge of the 262nd Criminal District Court located in Harris County, Houston, Texas. She is one of the historic Houston 19 judges, elected on November 6, 2018.
A THRIVING CAREER
In addition to presiding over the 262nd Criminal District Court, Judge Gray has served as co-presiding judge over the competency restoration docket and chair of the Harris County Treatment Court Committee. In 2025, she was appointed Mental Health Liaison for Harris County Felony Criminal Courts.
Since serving on the bench, Judge Lori Chambers Gray created the Next Chapter Reading Program for incarcerated youth. The Next Chapter program provides guided Professional Coaching to participants utilizing books as a catalyst for success.
Judge Lori Chambers Gray IS QUALIFIED
2019 to Present: Presiding Judge of the 262nd District Court
Prior to assuming the bench, Judge Gray was the founding and principal attorney of the Law Office of Lori Gray, a firm specializing in criminal and civil business law for over 28 years, representing individuals and businesses in state and federal courts.
She is a hospital volunteer at the Houston Medical Center, a guest speaker at schools, and a regular guest on the Houston Access Television Channel, discussing topics related to mental health.
